A domestic startup will soon unveil an autonomous high-speed urban air transportation (UAM) vehicle developed independently.

AAM (Advanced Air Mobility) company This Is Engineering (TIE, CEO Yoo-Jeong Hong) announced on the 2nd that it might complete the event of the UAM prototype and begin a test flight within the second half of the 12 months.

To this end, TIE announced that it plans to unveil the prototype aircraft in the primary half of this 12 months, after which quickly prepare for UAM commercialization together with test flights for the prototype within the second half.

The UAM prototype, which has already passed 90% of the event progress together with the sleek ground test of the reduced aircraft, is an autonomous two-seater aircraft designed for technical verification prior to business aircraft development. It was described as boasting 220 km/h.

As well as, the worldwide UAM eVTOL (electronic vertical take-off and landing) aircraft market has been improved by supplementing the restrictions of instantaneous control response, maneuverability, turning radius, and braking distance of overseas UAM aircraft based on the principles of existing aircraft corresponding to multi-rotor, lift-cruise, and tilt-rotor. He added that he expects to achieve a competitive advantage in

He also announced plans to start out developing a business plane immediately after completing the production of the prototype in the primary half of the 12 months. The UAM business aircraft being prepared by TIE is a five-seater aircraft designed to realize a maximum speed of 330 km/h and a flight distance of greater than 280 km.

Specifically, the corporate plans to achieve an edge in competition with representative UAM startups within the US and Germany by introducing eVTOL with a high level of safety by applying TIE’s autonomous flight technology. It is thought that TIE is currently discussing gas supply contracts with domestic and foreign partners.

Hong Yu-jeong, CEO of TIE, said, “The event of the UAM prototype is progressing more easily than originally planned, and we plan to unveil the aircraft, which has not been carried out for security reasons, throughout the first half of this 12 months, and begin full-scale test flights within the second half of this 12 months.”

As well as, “TIE, which has already secured original technologies for aircraft design, unmanned aerial vehicle system and autonomous driving AI software obligatory for the event and operation of autonomous UAM vehicles, develops high-speed UAM business aircraft with overwhelming performance able to precise autonomous flight based by itself navigation system. We are going to enter right into a full-fledged competition to preoccupy the worldwide UAM market in addition to in Korea.”
