A quadrupedal ‘robot police dog’ was shot as a substitute of an individual in the course of the arrest of a criminal. Due to this, the police announced that they were capable of arrest the criminal with none casualties.

The U.S. Massachusetts State Police (MSP) announced on the twenty fifth (local time) that a robot dog was lively within the arrest of an armed assailant last month.

In accordance with this, the criminal entered the home and opened fire during a confrontation with the police on the sixth of last month. Accordingly, the police deployed two tracking robots and 'Spot' manufactured by Boston Dynamics.

This robot, nicknamed 'Rosco', can monitor the situation in the home and the criminal's movements through handheld remote control.

The robot opened the door through the basement, infiltrated the home, and encountered the assailant on its technique to the bedroom. He fell after being kicked, but when he got back up and gave chase, the gunman fired three shots and communication was cut off.

The police SWAT team, which obtained information in regards to the criminal through this, threw tear gas contained in the house and succeeded in apprehending the suspect without causing any additional damage.

“This incident clearly demonstrated the advantages of a mobile platform that may open doors and climb stairs in tactical missions against armed suspects,” MSP said. “Along with providing critical situational awareness, it also prevents humans from becoming caught up in gunfights.” “It will probably be prevented,” he said.

Police sent a robot to the manufacturer, Boston Dynamics, for repairs. The corporate plans to exchange it with a recent model.
