The National Agency for Technology and Standards (Director Jin Jong-wook) of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the eleventh that it will perform projects for 150 standard education (about 15,000 students) and 25 ‘standard education pilot schools’ (about 2,300 people) from May.

‘Visiting Standards Education’ is a special lecture program that reminds students of the understanding of standards in our every day lives and the importance and necessity of standards. ‘Visiting standards education’, which originally began as visiting education by experts, has been expanded in various ways, resembling ▲digital textbooks ▲recorded videos of lectures ▲special lectures by experts on standards, resulting from the influence of COVID-19. As well as, learning activity sheets and standard Golden Bell quiz questions are used to arouse student interest and link with school classes.

‘Standards Education Demonstration School’ is an ordinary education program through which teachers answerable for each school autonomously explore and learn standards in reference to science, technology and residential economics subjects. It supports the center school free semester system and highschool club activities. The KPI evaluates the education plan of the teachers in charge and provides ▲standard education digital textbooks ▲subsidiary textbooks and material costs for experiential activities ▲visiting guidance from standard experts to varsities chosen.

Particularly, it plans to introduce standard education using digital experiential contents (VR/AR) for hopeful schools. Initially, it supports a program to experience the inconvenience attributable to non-standardization in every day life in a virtual reality (VR) space and to seek out standardized lifestyle products using augmented reality (AR) technology. As well as, education in the shape of a board game using various teaching aids is provided in order that students can naturally understand the need of standardization and the usual development process.

‘Standard education for elementary, middle, and high schools’ provides programs that enable students to self-study in addition to enjoyment of education. Consequently of a survey of teachers who participated in the usual education program in 2022, 86.8% of the respondents said that they’d actively take part in this system next 12 months, saying, “The education program was structured to make it easy to know standards in life, so the satisfaction level was high.”

Jin Jong-wook, director of the National Institute of Technology and Standards, said, “We’re conducting experiential standards education for elementary, middle and highschool youth to nurture future standard talents.” ”he said.
