MIT Solve, an MIT initiative with a mission to drive innovation to resolve world challenges, announced today the 2023 Global Challenges and the Indigenous Communities Fellowship.
Solve invites anyone from anywhere on the planet to submit an answer to this 12 months’s challenges by 12 p.m. EST on May 9. The 40 innovators — including eight recent Indigenous Communities Fellows — will form the 2023 Solver Class, and pitch their solutions during Solve Challenge Finals on Sept. 17-18 in Latest York City. These chosen teams will share over $1 million in available funding, participate in a nine-month support program, and join the Solve community fabricated from cross-sector social impact leaders, to scale their solutions.

For its second 12 months, Solve will select a cohort of entrepreneurs among the many 2023 Solver Class to affix the Black and Brown Innovators within the U.S. Program. This system offers culturally-responsive support and partnership opportunities, and chosen teams will take part in Solve’s annual U.S. Equity Summit.
Along with the Global Challenges, Solve can also be opening applications for the 2023 Indigenous Communities Fellowship. The fellowship, which looks for Native innovators in america and its territories, has now expanded eligibility to Canada.

Thus far, the funding available for chosen Solver teams and fellows includes:
- MIT Solve Funding — $400,000 with a $10,000 grant to every Solver team and fellow chosen
- The GM Prize (supported by General Motors) — as much as $150,000 across as much as six solutions from the Learning for Civic Motion Challenge, the Climate Adaptation & Low-Carbon Housing Challenge, and the 2023 Indigenous Communities Fellowship
- The AI for Humanity Prize (supported by The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation) — as much as $150,000 to solutions that leverage data science, artificial intelligence, and/or machine learning to learn humanity, chosen from any of the 2023 Global Challenges
- The GSR Foundation Prize (supported by GSR Foundation) — as much as $200,000 to modern technology solutions from any of the 2023 Global Challenges, with a give attention to solutions that use blockchain to enhance financial inclusion
- Living Forests Prize (supported by Good Energies Foundation) — as much as $100,000 across as much as 4 solutions that help restore ecosystems or increase the usage of sustainable forest products, chosen from the Climate Adaptation & Low-Carbon Housing Challenge

Moreover, Solve Innovation Future will offer investment capital to Solver teams chosen as a component of the 2023 class. Thus far, Solve Innovation Future has deployed over $1.3 million to greater than 13 for-profit Solver team firms which are driving impact toward UN Sustainable Development Goals, and has catalyzed nearly seven times its investment in additional investment capital toward the Solver teams.
