American lawyers who were embarrassed by the fake precedent made up by ChatGPT ended up paying fines.

Bloomberg reported on the twenty second (local time) that the Recent York District Court sought a positive of $5,000 (about 6.52 million won) from the law firm (Levido, Levido & Oberman PC) that caused controversy over the ChatGPT precedent manipulation issue.

In keeping with this, Judge Kevin Castell identified that the law firm and its two lawyers made misleading statements to the court by consciously concealing that they were citing precedents generated by ChatGPT.

In writing, he said, “Submitting a non-existent judicial opinion with a fake quotation made by the substitute intelligence tool ChatGPT is an act of abandoning the responsibility of the legal occupation, raising questions on their existence.”

Attorneys Steven Schwartz and Peter Roduca sued the airline on behalf of Roberto Mata, who was allegedly injured on a flight to Recent York in 2019. Nevertheless, in the method, the airline raised objections to the six precedents submitted to the court, and it was eventually revealed that the Gaza precedents were made up by ChatGPT.

The court judged that the statute of limitations had expired and dismissed the case itself. As well as, the change firms were ordered to deliver the court’s decision and hearing records to the actual judges who suggested that ChatGPT had selected six precedents.
