Specifically, greater than 500,000 AI-related patents have been applied for in the USA over the past five years, and 22% of them are related to generative AI. Patent applications related to generative AI grew rapidly at a mean annual rate of 31%, and registrations also increased at a 16% rate.
IBM, Google, Samsung Electronics, Baidu, etc. have applications distributed evenly across the general generative AI field, including image, voice, text, and video.
Alternatively, Nvidia, which makes a speciality of graphics processing devices, is specializing in the image and video fields, and Apple, which owns 'Siri', appears to be specializing in the voice field.
