Ellis Group (CEO Kim Jae-won), which focuses on educational practice platforms, announced on the 18th that it had signed an MOU with USG Shared University to research and develop artificial intelligence (AI) education and digital textbooks.

USG Shared University is a talent training education system operated by the Ulsan-Gyeongsangnam-do Innovation Platform. Ulsan and Gyeongnam 4-year universities, research institutes, and firms cooperate to nurture key talents within the local industry.

The 2 organizations explained that they recognized the necessity to nurture software and AI talent and promoted this agreement to strengthen mutual cooperation.

Specifically, Ellis Group will deliver a development fund of 300 million won to USG Shared University to support the establishment of an AI education system and the event of digital textbooks. As well as, it plans to develop and supply skilled talent training courses and industry-customized problem-based learning (PBL).

USG Shared University plans to contribute to the expansion of users of Ellis Group’s educational services. They decided to support the recruitment of trainees for the curriculum to be created by the Ellis Group and cooperate in planning PBL training tailored to the industry.

The Ellis Group is conducting customized digital transformation training at around 1,100 firms and institutions based on the practice platform ‘Ellis’ that applies AI technology to education. Starting this 12 months, it’s also practicing software and AI education for middle and highschool students as an organization hosting the ‘Digital Sprout Camp’, which was contested by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity.

“We stay up for constructing an AI education system through this cooperation,” said Kim Jae-won, CEO of Ellis Group.

“Industry-university cooperation between universities and firms is important to nurture talents who can adapt to the digital transformation,” said Jwa Yong-joo, head of University Education Innovation Headquarters, Ulsan-Gyeongnam Innovation Platform.
