China's Ministry of Commerce announced on the twenty second that Director Wang Wentao met with SK Hynix CEO Kwak No-jung, who was visiting China to attend the China Development High-Level Forum, to debate cooperation within the semiconductor field.

Director Wang met with President Kwak that day and said, “We’re comprehensively pursuing Chinese-style modernization,” and added, “We hope that SK Hynix will proceed to extend investment in China and share growth opportunities with China.”

President Kwak responded, “China has established itself as one in all SK Hynix’s most vital production bases and sales markets,” and added, “We’ll proceed to pursue business in China in order that we will take root in China and see greater development.”

China has recently been struggling to draw foreign investment to counter U.S. restrictions on technology exports. Specifically, artificial intelligence (AI) has recently been promoted as a core task, and solving the demand for AI chips is taken into account a very important task.

Last yr, the US granted SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics an indefinite exemption from continuing to import some high-end equipment into China.

Meanwhile, it is thought that Director Wang also met with Apple CEO Tim Cook and Broadcom Chairman Hock Tan and requested investment.
