Australia launches $1.3 trillion project to spice up solar manufacturing

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) announced on the thirty first that it has launched the primary phase of the $1 billion (KRW 1.34 trillion) ‘Solar Sunshot’ program to support innovation within the solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing industry.

The Solar Sunshot program was announced by the Australian government in March. It’s designed to drive innovation within the solar industry, including panel manufacturing and installation.

“Solar energy shall be the cornerstone of Australia’s future energy supply and is essential to realising our ambitions to change into a carbon neutral and renewable energy superpower,” said ARENA CEO Darren Miller.

A complete of 550 million dollars (roughly 740 billion won) shall be invested starting August 31. For this purpose, applications from corporations are currently being accepted.
