Gwangju City (Mayor Kang Ki-jung) announced that it held a policy discussion on the subject of ‘Future Development Strategy through Gwangju AI Proof-of-concept Valley Expansion Project’ in the primary small conference room of the National Assembly Members’ Hall on the second day of ‘National Assembly, Gwangju Day’ on the third.
The policy debate on at the present time was co-hosted by the eight local assemblymen, Jo In-cheol, Min Hyeong-bae, Park Gyun-taek, Ahn Do-geol, Yang Bu-nam, Jeon Jin-sook, Jeong Jin-wook, and Jeong Jun-ho, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and Gwangju City, and was organized by the Artificial Intelligence Industry Convergence Business Group.
About 100 people attended the discussion, including Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jung, National Assembly members Jo In-cheol, Kim Hyeon, Choi Hyeong-du, Lee Hae-min, Jeon Jin-sook, Jeong Jin-wook, and Jeong Jun-ho, officials from the Ministry of Science and ICT, relevant experts, and businesspeople.
Mayor Kang Ki-jung emphasized, “Gwangju is drawing a brand new future with the bogus intelligence (AI) industry and future automobile industry as its two major axes,” and “That is to quickly secure key latest industries of the long run, create jobs for residents, protect local businesses, and increase the sustainability of town.”

The policy discussion began with a presentation titled ‘Sustainable Development Strategy through the Expansion of the Gwangju AI Verification Valley’ by Kwak Jae-do, Head of the Infrastructure Development Headquarters of the Artificial Intelligence Convergence Business Group.

Gwangju has established the one national AI data center in Korea through the primary phase of the AI integrated complex project.
