It’s not an excellent great idea

Let’s face it, men aren’t doing so well.

They’re having meltdowns after they discover their attractive coworkers have already got boyfriends. They’re posting anime girls on their dating profiles, telling women to not hassle contacting them unless they meet the standards of a cartoon. They’re falling behind at school. They’re dropping out of faculty. They’re struggling to search out every part from jobs to meaning of their lives. They’re getting indignant and lashing out, and everybody has an idea about the right way to fix the issue.

The newest:

An influencer thinks she will be able to cure men’s loneliness by launching an AI version of herself as a virtual girlfriend. She’ll be the primary, but she won’t be the last. It’s going to start out a trend.

It won’t be long before dozens of influencers are offering robot versions of themselves for consumption, all of them promising something they’ll’t deliver — acceptance and self-worth.

Well, good luck with that.

I’m trying hard to consider the official branding, that these AI girlfriends will help combat toxic masculinity by encouraging men to discuss their feelings and take care of their emotions in healthier ways. I suppose it’s higher than other things they might be doing.

You realize what, though?

It appears like bullshit.

Sorry, all this discuss curing loneliness strikes me as hopelessly naive and superficial. Someone has to think pretty highly of themselves to consider their robot double can cure the psychological scars of entire generations. In point of fact, dudes don’t need a robot influencer telling them to call an old friend or go outside and touch grass for a dollar a minute, especially when that very same girl might be just as blissful to take their money and talk dirty to them as a substitute.

It appears like a preemptive defense against the more plausible scenario that virtual girlfriends are designed to extract wealth from lonely people while offering the thinnest veneer of a promise that it’s going to assist them one way or the other, relatively than exploit them.

Everyone desires to help lonely young men nowadays, all the time for a price. Hey, why should Jordan Peterson and Tucker Carlson have all of the fun? Who says only Joe Rogan can fill the void?

Women can do it, too.

When these influencers and public intellectuals discuss helping indignant lonely young men, I feel what they really mean is that they need to profit off young men’s alienation and futility, by providing them with a good more parasocial relationship than those that already permeate their lives. This AI girlfriend has already made $70K, and her team predicts she’ll make thousands and thousands a month.

Hey, good for her.

I suppose…

It feels a little bit judgy to inform a 23-year-old to get an actual job. I mean, there are no real jobs. Not anymore. Those which can be left? They pay for garbage. Nurses and teachers are quitting for OnlyFans and affiliate internet marketing programs. They need in on the party. You may’t blame them, either. They’re doing what’s best for them in a world where CEOs and middle managers suck all of the wealth out of every part they touch.

Who desires to be an astronaut anymore? Who desires to be a firefighter? Who desires to be a police officer? A health care provider? A zookeeper? A librarian? A dentist? A construction employee? A crane operator? An attorney for a nonprofit? These careers guarantee nothing but a lifetime of debt and indentured servitude now. You stand a likelihood in case you go into something like plumbing or carpentry, but even now the development industry is contracting. Constructing materials are getting costlier. My brother tried to turn out to be an electrician. It didn’t work out for him. Now he’s attempting to turn out to be a mechanic, but that’s demanding either.

My brother is precisely the form of guy these influencers need to sell robot girlfriends. He’s single. He lives at home. He tried to this point for some time, however it just got too difficult. He doesn’t have many friends. He’s not going to get married or have kids. His erratic job schedule keeps him from fascinated about the longer term an excessive amount of.

So what’s he going to do with himself?

He doesn’t know.

We will’t get too indignant at anybody particular influencer. Nevertheless, we have now to acknowledge their collective complicity in all of this. For the last ten years, influencers have run society into the bottom.

They’ve promoted toxic beauty standards to women. They’ve nurtured narcissism and greed. They’ve grown the fast fashion industry beyond conception, considered one of the most important sources of waste on the earth, not to say flagrant human rights violations. Landfills are stuffed with outfits someone wore twice and threw away after some poor woman spent 14 hours a day stitching them together.

Let’s face it, we have now problems.

Influencers have created a whole class of vapid young women who can’t function in society. I’ve met college girls who don’t even know the right way to use packing tape. Meanwhile, the Ben Shapiro number of influencers has created a category of indignant young men who think the world owes them a mansion stuffed with virgins. It’s almost like these influencers consult with one another and plan all of it out prematurely. They nurture traits that distance us from one another while making us more depending on them for any sense of connection, acceptance, and self-worth.

It’s not healthy.

Sure, I suppose it’s higher for indignant lonely young men to spend time with a virtual girlfriend than not sleep all night cruising incel forums and mainlining Andrew Tate videos. Nevertheless, there’s no guarantee they won’t proceed chugging toxic masculinity online while also abusing their AI girlfriends, who won’t ever rise up for themselves because that wouldn’t make the influencers any money, wouldn’t it?

There’s probably not much of a marketplace for virtual girlfriends who challenge sexist stereotypes while quoting bell hooks.

Hey, you never know.

Perhaps some guys would like to have an AI girlfriend who’s smart and well-read, could make them laugh, and introduce them to recent ideas and experiences. That sounds an awful lot like actual human relationships though, and it’s a little bit cheaper.

No, it’s really not an excellent idea to provide thousands and thousands of lonely young men access to a virtual girlfriend who’s going to agree with every part they are saying and do whatever they need, for a dollar a minute.

That won’t cure their loneliness.

It’ll make things worse.

Let’s stop and take into consideration how this all plays out. A lot of these men will go into debt to pay for access to their virtual girlfriends. Imagine what happens after they run out of cash and max out their bank cards. Tell me what they’ll do when their virtual girlfriend ghosts them because they’re broke, the oldest female stereotype within the book.

It won’t be pretty.

I’m just waiting for the primary mass shooter who mentions his virtual girlfriend because the catalyst for his rampage. I’m waiting for some influencer’s PR team to issue a press release saying it’s not their fault, they’re not answerable for what indignant lonely young men do when their robot influencer girlfriends dump them.

I do know why we’re here.

We’re here because just one query ever matters in America. “Can I earn money off this?” It doesn’t matter what the moral complications are. No one cares in regards to the long-term consequences. It’s all about profits. That’s been the dominant query ever since Oprah began flaming satanic panics and talking about healing crystals.

We’ve been on a downward slope since Oz.

For many years now, we’ve been conditioned to commoditize every part in our lives, from our hobbies to our relationships. We’ve been told that technology will solve all of our problems.

It only ever seems to create recent ones.

Technology can’t cure our loneliness.

It created our loneliness.

As for men…

Well, women are excelling now because they’ve stopped letting systems designed for men hold them back.

They’ve stopped putting up with men’s emotional fragility and their need for authority. They’ve stopped tiptoeing around men’s egos, and so they’ve stopped settling for abusive relationships. A handful of men have matured into this recent world. It doesn’t hassle them to see women in positions of power and authority. They don’t need their masculinity continuously reinforced or catered to.

Many haven’t matured.

They’ve regressed.

In all fairness, society at large hasn’t done an excellent job of offering a viable alternative to the toxic masculine stereotypes that when dominated. I suppose there’s no money in that. Mr. Rogers doesn’t sell testosterone boosters or tanning beds for men’s balls. He’s not considered an alpha male when he was a greater leader than ten Joe Rogans.

Loads of men on the market don’t know the right way to handle themselves. They don’t know the right way to cook. They don’t know the right way to do laundry. They don’t know the right way to clean a house or arrange a living space.

They don’t know the right way to manage their emotions.

A lady has done all of it for them.

If we’re going to supply robot companions to the lonely, virtual or physical, let’s be honest about why. Loads of men (and girls) simply need to opt out of the dating pool, perhaps even the gene pool.

That’s wonderful.

If robot girlfriends will make incels blissful, then I’m all for it. I completely understand why loads of individuals are done with one another. Society form of sucks. For increasingly of us, it’s probably not desirable and even feasible to hunt physical companionship from other humans. Robots make more sense. That’s not a cure for loneliness.

It’s an embrace.

Not everyone needs or wants a wife or girlfriend. A sexbot or a virtual girlfriend will do exactly wonderful.

Perhaps some men will find that a virtual girlfriend offers them some form of practice for the actual thing. Perhaps it’ll help a few of them claw their way out of their despair into functional adult relationships.

That’s an enormous if.

Let’s get real, that’s not the major point. That will be nice, but these influencers want the cash first.

That’s what matters.

If we would like to revive and strengthen human bonds, we’ll should go a little bit further. We’ll have to deal with the basis problem: By and enormous, men have been taught to consider they’re rugged individualists who don’t need anyone. They never saw all of the work women were doing to support them, whether it was their mom, a sister, an aunt, or a wife. Now it’s gone, and so they’re having a crisis moment. That’s not the one problem, however it’s an enormous a part of it. Now as a substitute of teaching men the right way to handle themselves, a thousand grifters are moving in with their very own guarantees and solutions. Every one just makes every part worse.

There’s no quick or easy approach to fix these problems. We have now to reorganize the way in which we take into consideration every part from money to human relationships and gender norms. It’s all snarled. More men should learn to be okay by themselves, with women in charge. Greater than anything, we have now to stop seeing every problem as a chance for somebody to make a fortune. That’s probably our biggest flaw. We have now to construct an economy that doesn’t make predation the one technique of constructing wealth or achieving financial stability. Will we? It’s not looking good without delay. Too many individuals seem too desirous to rejoice this fashion of life.

I can inform you one thing. The answer won’t be coming from a virtual girlfriend who charges a dollar a minute to combine personal growth platitudes with dirty talk.

I’m pretty sure.
