Gwangju Technopark (Director Kim Young-jip) announced on the twenty fourth that it is going to hold the third 12 months steering committee of the ‘Dementia Cohort Multimodal Data Application Empirical Foundation Establishment Project’ and promote the full-scale project.

The steering committee held on the twenty third was attended by officials from Gwangju City, Gwangju Technopark, Chosun University Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Center, Chonnam National University Hospital, Chosun University Hospital, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, and Wonkwang University Hospital. Plans were shared and discussed.

This project goals to ascertain a foundation for empirical testing of assorted dementia-related products in real environments by investing about 20 billion won from 2021 to 2025, and to support commercialization of firms based on empirical data.

Last 12 months, 28 firms that develop and produce dementia prediction, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment products were supported with data utilization, IRB plan establishment, researcher clinical trials, product demonstration, prototype production, and marketing.

Particularly, Gwangju Technopark will start construction of the Dementia Technology Center (tentative name) on the positioning of Complex 2 next month. The middle, which is scheduled to be accomplished at the tip of this 12 months, plans to construct dementia data collection, evaluation, and empirical evaluation equipment to gather data and supply an environment where related firms can utilize them.

As well as, the Chosun University Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Center has secured data on 16,000 dementia patients who’ve been examined through various forms over the past 10 years. The information collected through this project might be processed and used to investigate and predict the danger of dementia.

As well as, Chonnam National University Hospital, Chosun University Hospital, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, and Wonkwang University Hospital play a job in verifying the effectiveness and safety of products through researcher-led clinical support.

Kim Yeong-jip, director of Gwangju Technopark, said, “It is understood that dementia will be prevented and delayed whether it is detected and managed early from mild cognitive impairment.” We’ll attempt to present a successful model for prediction, prevention and treatment.”
