A famous photo contest winner refused to simply accept the award, claiming that his work was created using artificial intelligence (AI).

The Guardian reported on the seventeenth (local time) that German photographer Boris Eldaksen is attracting attention by announcing that he won’t accept the creative category award he won last week on the Sony World Photography Awards because of this.

In response to the report, Eldaksen said, “I participated in the competition because I used to be inquisitive about how images created using AI can be received.”

The photo in query shows two women of various generations in black and white. Eldaxen explained that this photo was re-edited greater than 20 to 40 times through an AI image generator and created by combining inpainting and outpainting.

The photo was faraway from the show and tournament website shortly after.
