Ford has gathered employees from Argo AI, a self-driving automobile startup that was dismantled last 12 months, to develop self-driving cars.

TechCrunch reported on the 2nd (local time) that Ford gathered a whole bunch of Argo AI employees to determine a self-driving automobile subsidiary called ‘Latitude AI’ and entrusted the event of self-driving technology ‘Blue Cruise’.

Latitude AI has 550 employees, most of whom come from Argo AI’s machine learning and robotics, cloud, mapping, sensor, test operations, systems and safety engineers. Founded with 100% investment by Ford.

“Blue Cruise technology demonstrates the advantages of autonomous driving to drivers,” said Doug Field, Ford Chief Technology Officer.

Argo AI emerged as a pacesetter in autonomous driving in 2017 as a three way partnership between Ford and Volkswagen. Nonetheless, Ford and Volkswagen announced that they might not develop self-driving technology with Argo AI, and suddenly closed their doors in October of last 12 months.

On the time, Ford said it had made a strategic decision to give attention to developing advanced driver assistance systems as a substitute of self-driving automobile technology. He also revealed that Argo AI recorded a lack of $2.7 billion (roughly 3.514 trillion won).
