How AI is giving Northern Ireland teachers time back

-

Embracing the chance ahead, responsibly

We imagine the promise of AI in education can only be achieved by developing it responsibly. One essential facet of that is doing so in close partnership with the complete education ecosystem. When my team and I met with Damian Harvey, Interim Head of C2k, he emphasized this point. He shared that the pilot’s success was accelerated by a collaborative group of teachers sharing their learnings with one another, in addition to the necessity for resources to coach and support further development in AI readiness.

“I imagine educators must embrace the chance,” said Damian Harvey, Interim Head of C2k.

Following the success of the pilot, C2k plans to roll out Gemini training to more teachers across Northern Ireland. We imagine that is only the start. We hope to proceed exploring partnerships like this, learning directly from the teachers who use the technology the right way to best align products with proven pedagogical principles , and the right way to effectively integrate the technology to enhance learning outcomes for college students.

As we proceed to navigate the shift toward AI in learning, it’s important that our products empower educators, not replace them. Teachers must maintain ownership over how AI is used to assist their students learn. As I’ve often said: technology isn’t magic, teachers are.
