Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Lim Ki -cheol) announced on the ninth that the Department of Environmental and Energy Engineering (President Young -jun Park) was chosen as a specialized graduate school within the ‘AI Circulation System’ within the ‘Environmental Graduate School of Environmental Graduate School’.
This project, organized by the Ministry of Environment and operated by the Korea Institute of Environmental Industry and Technology, is a national R & D -based talent development program that fosters environmental talent.
Through the project, GIST will receive as much as 4.75 billion won (about 950 million won per yr) for five years from 2025. The corporate plans to open curriculum to satisfy industry demand, research AI and data -based circulatory technology, and expand industry -university cooperation projects and internships.
Particularly, the Department of Environmental and Energy Engineering will operate an issue -solving curriculum that covers five circulating systems corresponding to carbon, resources, water, ecology, and energy.
Park Young -joon, director of environmental and energy engineering, said, “AI and large data are a key tool not only suggesting decisive solutions to complex environmental issues, but in addition leading circulating glass innovation.” Said.
