From my experience, individuals who work in data science have a large diversity of backgrounds. I (like lots of my fellow data scientists) didn’t start my profession in data science right out of faculty. I started off working as a securities broker within the investment finance industry. I quickly discovered that the profession path I originally selected was not fit and began a multi-year journey towards becoming a knowledge scientist. In this text, I’m going to share 8 strategies I utilized in my successful transition to becoming a knowledge scientist. Let’s get into it!
Strategy 1— Know what you wish
Data science is a competitive industry and it may be difficult to get into, especially if you happen to weren’t originally planning on it. It’s crucial that that you simply actually need to work in the sector — in case your journey can be anything like mine, it’s going to take some significant effort and time to interrupt into your first data science job. It’s worthwhile to ensure that is what you wish so that you stay focused and don’t lose motivation in your journey!
