OpenAI, Artists and ‘Sora’ Collaboration Results Revealed in Latest York… “Official Release TBD”

A gallery in Latest York is hosting an exhibition featuring collaborations between OpenAI and artists, including a video-generating AI called Sora, nevertheless it has not given a definitive answer on when it’s going to be released.

CNBC reported on the sixth (local time) that the Strada Gallery in Latest York shall be holding an exhibition called ‘Strada Nuova: Latest Road’, showcasing the outcomes of a three-week collaboration with OpenAI.

Accordingly, the tools supported by OpenAI for this exhibition include Sora, which has not yet been released to the general public, and the voice generation AI ‘Voice Engine’, in addition to the image generation AI ‘Dali’ and ‘ChatGPT’. The gallery said that this project began six months ago.

OpenAI announced shortly after Sora’s launch in February that it was working with major Hollywood production corporations and the art world. Consequently, it has also released Sora videos created by filmmakers and visual experts.

For this project, artist Mine Atailu used Sora to create an AI-generated video titled “Regina Gloriana,” inspired by a supernatural horror film produced in Nigeria within the Nineties. Photographer and visual artist Sophia Wilson also used Sora and the voice engine to create an animation featuring a black female bodybuilder.

As well as, it is thought that various groups of artists, including creators, researchers, and students working in real and digital art, participated on this project.

Meanwhile, it has been quite some time since we heard any news about Sora.

Nevertheless, when asked whether Sora could be released this 12 months or next 12 months, OpenAI said it was “still within the review phase resulting from conversations with policymakers.”

There was a series of negative reactions on X (Twitter). Many competitors, including Chinese corporations, have already appeared, and the video quality is claimed to be no higher than Sora.

Some others have also predicted that Sora will only be released for business purposes, targeting corporations and artists.
