An AI-generated newscaster has emerged in Venezuela, with the intention of hiding his identity to guard him from government repression.
Reuters reported on the 2nd (local time) that a corporation called Connectas has introduced female and male AI humans to broadcast news from dozens of independent media outlets in Venezuela.
In keeping with this, the AI humans have names like ‘El Pana’ and ‘La Chama’, which mean ‘friend’ and ‘woman’ respectively.
In keeping with Reporters Without Borders, at the very least 10 journalists have been arrested in Venezuela since June, and eight are still being held on terrorism charges.
Venezuela has been in serious internal conflict for the reason that July 28 presidential election, with each the ruling party and the opposition party claiming victory. The opposition party claims that the election results were rigged.
“We decided to make use of AI because the ‘face’ of data because our colleagues are still at much greater risk,” said Carlos Huertas, director of Connectas. “Using AI here is a mixture of technology and journalism.”
Meanwhile, in Venezuela, at the very least 27 people have reportedly been killed and a couple of,400 arrested in protests for the reason that vote.
