The brand new road of worldwide island policy is opened as an integrated ecological, energy, and community model.
Jeonnam Sinan -gun won the Green Energy Award within the Green World Awards, Green World Awards, and have become a worldwide example of sustainable island policy.
This award is awarded to cities and institutions which have achieved excellent leads to areas reminiscent of climate change response, renewable energy expansion, and ecological preservation.
The largest reason why Sinan’s attention is the world’s attention will not be only a technical achievement, but within the ‘energy independence’ model based on the participation of residents.
The Renewable Energy Sharing System and the first Army 1 Energy Independence Island Policy were recognized as a representative case of responding to the climate crisis by sharing natural resources reminiscent of wind and solar energy with local resources.
These policies have led the community to comprehend energy justice and to realize each ecological sustainability and economic independence.
Ecological preservation and coexistence energy strategy
Sinan’s energy policy presupposes coexistence, not natural damage. Sinan Tidal Flat, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a representative case of emphasizing that energy development and ecological preservation may be compatible with the middle of the marine ecosystem.
Shinan’s strategy of ‘can develop without harming nature’ was highly regarded within the international community.
This will not be the primary time Shinan’s international award. From the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 2023, the World Tourism Village, the 2024 World Living City Award, followed by this award, and that is the results of a comprehensive strategy that mixes environmental, tourism and culture.

Within the island area where the climate crisis and the twin task of demonstrating the population, Shinan selected a method of ‘shifting’ slightly than ‘Verti’. The establishment of the island university, the specialized strategy of every island, and the community -centered community economy shows that Sinan is moving beyond easy survival to the middle of sustainable diversity.
Big changes that began on ‘small island’
Shinan’s policy will not be just awarded. The ‘World Island Culture Diversity Forum’ and the launch of the ‘Pacific Climate Crisis Response Council’ show that Sinan is solving the climate crisis with not only technology but in addition culture and community -centered approach.
This award symbolizes that Shinan -gun, which integrates climate justice, energy justice, and cultural diversity right into a policy, is growing right into a platform for global island policy.
Sinan is a worldwide Island Policy Hub, and plans to proceed international cooperation and model sharing for the sustainable way forward for islands and rural areas.
Within the era of climate crisis, Shinan says. “Small islands may also change the world.”
