Open AI and Microsoft (MS) are reportedly renegotiating strategic partnerships that end in 2030. Open AI is moving to prepare its relationship with Microsoft, but Microsoft is attempting to secure an extended -term approach to open AI’s core AI technology.
The Financial Times reported on Monday (11) that it was citing a well -known source and negotiating partnerships with Microsoft, the biggest investor.
The negotiations have been held for the reason that end of last 12 months.
Open AI is now considered an obstacle to Microsoft’s largest investor Microsoft, which has supported funds and computing infrastructure. It is because it builds its own infrastructure called ‘Stargate’ by attracting as much as $ 40 billion in investment from Softbank. In this example, it’s unfavorable at hand over 20%of the profits from AI services to Microsoft by 2030.
Nevertheless, Microsoft, which has invested greater than $ 13 billion (about 18 trillion won) to date, has to take a legitimate stake through an open AI structure. If Microsoft rejects, the corporate’s corporate structure change may be lost.
As well as, it is vitally necessary for Microsoft to offer open AI technology after the 2030 contract. Actually, many of the current Azure service comes from the open AI model service. Even though it is developing its own model, there isn’t a guarantee that it develops a model beyond open AI.
Consequently, Microsoft is understood to be negotiating to secure access to latest technologies that can be developed after 2030 as a substitute of giving up a certain stake.
But negotiations are known to be difficult. Additionally it is said that the situation has worsened in order that it’s now enough to fight as an emotional fight.
Particularly, a senior executive of Microsoft accused the open AI that it provides Microsoft to offer only money and computing, and the remaining is just not interfered with.
Open AI said, “Microsoft still desires to succeed. The situation is just not completely unsuitable.”
