Obi Beer will expand using solar energy generation facilities at three production plants in Icheon, Cheongju, and Gwangju, and expand using renewable energy.
Obi Beer (CEO Bae Ha -jun) held the ‘completion ceremony of the photovoltaic power generation facility’ on the Icheon plant on the thirteenth and announced that it has accomplished the development of solar energy generation facilities in three factories in Icheon, Cheongju and Gwangju. Because of this, it became the primary liquor company in Korea to fabricate beer with renewable energy produced by solar energy generation.
The ceremony was attended by Bae Ha -jun, Vice President of Mo -Yu Production Division, Kim Doo -young, Managing Director Kim Young -young, Vice President Chung Tae -hoon, Vice President of G -Kei Obiwon, and Choi Seung -jo, head of HD Hyundai Energy Solution.
Obi Beer is leading the Eco -friendly management and participates within the ‘RE100’ initiative, which covers 100 percentof the facility utilized by the corporate to answer climate change. As a part of this, in 2023, Obi Beer first installed a 3.7 megawatt (MW) solar panel in Gwangju Plant. The brand new Icheon plant, which was newly installed this time, and the solar panel of the Cheongju plant in December last 12 months is 1.8MW.
The Icheon, Cheongju, and Gwangju factories can produce renewable energy power of 1.7 giga watts (GWH), 0.6GWh, and three.7GWh, and replace 3.7%, 2.6% ▲ 11% of every factory consumed.
Currently, all three plant solar energy systems can operate and reduce carbon emissions of about 2800 tons per 12 months. So as to introduce renewable energy, the corporate plans to convert 100 percentof electricity used to provide beer in the longer term through power purchase contract (PPA), energy storage (ESS), and virtual power generation (VPP) to renewable energy and realize carbon neutral by 2040.
Bae Ha -joon said, “The completion of the development of solar energy generation facilities in all three production plants is a vital indicator of the undeniable fact that the eco -friendly management strategy of Obi beer is just not only a slogan, nevertheless it is resulting in practical motion.”
