LG Energy Solutions announced on the tenth that it signed a three-party business agreement (MOU) with Aptera Motors and domestic battery pack manufacturer CTNS at ‘CES 2025’ held in Las Vegas, USA.
Through this, we decided to provide 4.4 gigawatt hours (GWh) of cylindrical batteries to Aptera Motors for seven years from this 12 months to 2031 and cooperate to provide solar electric vehicles.
Aptera, a solar electric vehicle developed by Aptera Motors, is a brand new type of mobility that maximizes driving range by applying solar panels and battery packs at the identical time. It successfully accomplished a test run last 12 months, received pre-orders for about 50,000 units, and is scheduled to be released within the U.S. market this 12 months.
In line with Aptera Motors, this vehicle can travel 643 km on a single charge. It may possibly drive 64km in a day using just solar panels, making it highly useful for urban commuting. It also appeared in an American science fiction film as a result of its futuristic design that minimizes air resistance.
Chris Anthony, co-CEO of Aptera Motors, said, “This agreement is a crucial milestone in bringing solar electric vehicles to the market with the reliability and performance that customers expect,” adding, “LG Energy Solutions, CTNS, and Sustainable Transportation, which have outstanding expertise, “I’m excited to work together for the longer term of .”
Meanwhile, since LG Energy Solutions first developed cylindrical batteries in 1999, it has expanded its range of applications by producing a wide range of products, including the recent 46 series batteries.
