Predominant roles of Jeonnam Province Sustainable Development Committee

For the sustainable development of Jeonnam, the committee ▲deliberates basic strategies for sustainable development (determines and deliberates the direction of major policies and plans) ▲reviews sustainability of administrative plans (evaluates sustainability of policies and ordinances) ▲presents policy opinions (provincial administration) performs the role of expert suggestion on the direction of improvement.

The necessity for a method for the AI era

South Jeolla Province’s sustainable development goals don’t include specific plans to arrange for the AI era. As there’s a high possibility of using AI in various fields resembling agriculture, oceans, energy, and social welfare, detailed strategies should be prepared in ▲smart agriculture and ocean management ▲energy efficiency technology ▲response to population extinction.

In the precise implementation plan, the feasibility and priorities of the 140 tasks have to be reviewed and a practical motion plan have to be established. There’s a necessity to determine specialized strategies for every region and foster high-tech industries to diversify Jeonnam’s economic base.

Above all, strengthening public-private cooperation and data-based policies is important to effectively achieve sustainable goals.

We must also consider establishing an AI data center to research sustainable development data and use it for policy design.

Moreover, there’s a necessity to extend transparency within the policy-making process through a platform where residents can participate.

Moreover, the committee must present future-oriented policies and vision that may make sure the sustainability of Jeollanam-do. Co-Chairman Ko Seok-gyu said, “We are going to review policies and measures, suggest improvement plans, and operate the committee effectively.”

We hope that the Jeonnam Provincial Sustainable Development Committee will establish progressive policy directions, including the AI era, and prepare effective implementation plans to understand a sustainable Jeonnam where future generations can enjoy a greater life together.
