Boston Dynamics released a special video of the humanoid robot ‘Atlas’ for Christmas. Beyond being a straightforward event, there’s also a touch of intent to point out off latest hardware performance.
Boston Dynamics uploaded a video of Atlas dressed as Santa jumping in place and doing somersaults through its YouTube channel on the twenty fourth (local time). “I hope you may have a vacation stuffed with light and laughter as you welcome the Recent Yr,” he said.
The backflip can be Atlas’ signature move. It is understood that it will not be a tougher movement for a robot than walking.
Nevertheless, Atlas, which introduced the backflip this time, will not be a robot with existing hydraulic hardware, but a brand new model that was replaced with an electrical actuator last April. In other words, it shows that electric devices are powerful enough.
Last August, the corporate showed off its power with a video of Atlas doing eight push-ups in 12 seconds. In addition they revealed easy methods to rise up from a standing position by simply rotating the actuator without putting your hands on the ground while lying down on the ground.
Atlas is currently being tested on Hyundai Motor Company’s production line. Also, last month, it signed a partnership with Toyota Research Institute (TRI) and plans to equip Atlas with a synthetic intelligence (AI) brain.
