TSMC founder Maurice Chang gave an evaluation of Intel following the recent resignation of CEO Pat Gelsinger. Their attempt at making chips was a failure, and they don’t seem to be sure what they’re attempting to do now.

Founder Chang recently attended an autobiography publication event held in Taiwan and expressed his opinions on Intel through a press conference.

“I don’t know why Pat resigned,” he said. “I don’t know if his strategy was bad or if he didn’t execute it well.”

“He appeared to be focused on establishing a chip factory,” he said. “In fact, he must have focused more on AI.”

It’s a well known undeniable fact that Intel rejected OpenAI’s offer to accumulate a 30% stake for $1 billion seven years ago. Additionally it is reported that opportunities to accumulate other influential startups were also wasted. In fact, most of this happened before Gelsinger’s tenure as CEO.

Specifically, former CEO Gelsinger focused on the foundry to rebuild the corporate, but was ultimately unsuccessful. Founder Chang pointed this out.

In relation to this, former CEO Gelsinger said, “You don’t need to put all of your eggs within the Taiwanese factory’s basket,” and “Taiwan shouldn’t be a stable place.” For this reason, the founding father of Chang reportedly got indignant, calling it “rude.”

Founder Chang added that he shouldn’t be sure what strategy Intel has going forward. “They currently haven’t any recent strategy and no recent CEO. Finding each may be very difficult,” he said.
