Meta is launching a productivity-enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) tool that was used internally for corporate use. The intention is to affix the B2B business in earnest.
The Financial Times (FT) reported on the seventh (local time) that Meta is developing ‘Metamate’, an AI productivity tool for corporations.
Metamate relies on the large-scale language model (LLM) ‘Rama’ and supports various tasks similar to coding, research, and document drafting. This was used internally for various tasks, similar to looking for information inside Meta, preparing for meetings, and handling follow-up tasks.
Prashant Ratanchandani, Vice President of Meta Engineering, who oversees the event of Metamate, said, “Although now we have not yet finalized plans to release it externally, this tool has provided necessary insights into enterprise AI applications. Our goal is to create the world’s best enterprise AI assistant.” “He said.
It is a strategy to affix the company AI market like Microsoft (MS), Google, Open AI, Antropic, and Amazon. Up to now, Meta has limited itself to releasing Llama as open source and providing consumer ‘Meta AI’ chatbots on platforms similar to Facebook and Instagram.
Experts predict that Meta will enter the enterprise market with Metamate on the forefront.
Actually, last month, Clara Shih, former CEO of Salesforce’s AI division, was hired as head of the brand new ‘Business AI’ group. Clara Si said, “My vision is to make cutting-edge AI technology easily accessible to all corporations.”
Nonetheless, it is understood that Metamate remains to be not nearly as good as MS or Google.
Currently, only text-based interface is supported, and video or image processing functions usually are not included. It also lacks the autonomous agent features offered by competing products, similar to providing summaries after joining a gathering, scheduling events, and performing tasks on behalf of the user.
“We’re in search of ways to enhance this product in order that it becomes more just like an AI assistant,” said Vice President Ratanchandani. “We still need more time to have an actual effect on productivity.”
Nonetheless, there are predictions that the company AI market will expand significantly starting next yr with the full-scale introduction of agents. It is alleged that to ensure that Meta to enter the company market in earnest, it must put all its efforts into agent development now.
