By introducing artificial intelligence (AI), a brand new boxing punching bag has emerged that goes beyond traditional fitness devices. It’s interesting to see whether a brand new device featuring a conversational AI coach will turn out to be the usual for home training AI devices.

Growl, headquartered within the U.S. and France, announced on the 4th (local time) that it had succeeded in attracting $4.75 million in investment and revealed details in regards to the ‘AI Boxing Coach’ scheduled to be released next 12 months.

This device, which may be used at home by attaching it to a wall, combines high-resolution projection and edge AI computing with an existing sandbag.

A 4K projector monitors the user’s movements, and a sensor attached to the sandbag reads the strength of the punch.

Specifically, a human-sized AI coach appears with AI to deliver advice on posture and amount of exercise. The coach also conducts mitt sparring, where the user receives punches through a projector. It has been reported that virtual sparring can be possible.

They revealed that they collaborated with actual coaches to create relevant content. We also plan to expand beyond boxing to incorporate yoga, Pilates, and strength training.

Pre-orders are scheduled to start in May next 12 months. It is anticipated that the actual product might be available in early 2026. The worth is $4,500 (about 6.37 million won), but we plan to implement a monthly subscription system at a less expensive price than an actual boxing gym after which adopt a technique that lets you completely own the product after a certain time frame.

The reason is that this device is an immersive device that’s different from a training device that simply measures the quantity of exercise. “Growl is something completely different,” former UFC heavyweight champion Cyril Gaine said in a press release. “Every session seems like an actual game, making boxing fun and accessible.”

It was predicted that the recently increased popularity of boxing would also play a task. It is understood to be enjoyed by A-list celebrities reminiscent of Chris Hemsworth, and is currently considered the game that Americans aged 18 to 45 most wish to try.

Leo Desrumo, CEO of Groul, can be known to have learned boxing when he was young. “Boxing is greater than exercise,” he emphasized, “It’s the facility to develop confidence, resilience, and unwavering focus.”

Meanwhile, some fitness devices and boxing devices using AI have appeared since last 12 months. Nevertheless, Groul’s device is claimed to be an evolved form through language models and sensor technology, and a focus is being paid as to if it is going to turn out to be a brand new standard for fitness devices in the longer term.
