Korea Energy Agency-IRENA discusses expansion of latest and renewable energy in Central Asia

The Korea Energy Agency (Chairman Lee Sang-hoon) announced on the sixteenth (local time) that it held a joint workshop with the International Renewable Energy Agency (Secretary-General Francisco La Camera, hereinafter known as IRENA) in Baku, Azerbaijan to debate ways to speed up renewable energy within the Central Asia region. .

This event was held as a part of the ‘IRENA Energy Transition Investment Forum’ held on the occasion of the twenty ninth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

The workshop was attended by panelists including the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank (WB), and domestic renewable energy corporations. Participants discussed practical steps to speed up renewable energy in Central Asia. Specifically, discussions focused on ▲tripling renewable energy through cooperative development and business exchanges, and ▲upgrading power grid infrastructure and electricity storage devices to integrate recent and renewable energy.

Domestic corporations presented best practices for energy conversion, akin to renewable energy and energy storage devices. We also interacted with renewable energy developers, investment managers, international organizations, and financial institutions energetic within the Central Asian region. It was said that through this, the inspiration was laid for the domestic recent and renewable energy industry to enter the Central Asian market.

IRENA Secretary-General Francisco La Camera said, “This workshop is a very important event to speed up Central Asia’s energy transition through renewable energy investment, knowledge exchange, and international cooperation.”

Lee Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Korea Energy Agency, said, “This workshop held along with IRENA will likely be a catalyst for disseminating renewable energy not only in Central Asia but globally,” adding, “As well as, it’s a very good opportunity for Korea’s excellent renewable energy industry to advance into Central Asia.” “I sit up for it,” he said.
