The Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Security Summit can be held in the USA this November. That is an extension of the AI Security Summit that began within the UK in November last yr.
Reuters reported on the 18th (local time) that the Biden administration will hold the primary meeting of the International AI Safety Research Network in San Francisco on November 20-21.
Accordingly, this meeting follows the launch of the International Network of AI Safety Research Institutes on the AI Seoul Summit last May. The goal is to start technical cooperation before the AI Motion Summit to be held in Paris in February next yr.
This network includes Korea, Australia, Canada, the European Union, France, Japan, Kenya, Singapore, the UK, and the USA. These countries will promote global cooperation for the protected, secure, and reliable development of AI.
To this end, technical experts from member countries’ AI safety research institutes or equivalent government-funded scientific research institutes will attend to debate priority areas of labor and promote global collaboration and knowledge sharing on AI safety.
“The goal is close and thoughtful collaboration with our allies and like-minded partners,” said U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo. “We would like to make sure that the principles of AI are based on safety, security, and trust.”
With this, the AI Safety Summit, which began within the UK in November last yr, can be held in Seoul in May, San Francisco in October, and Paris in February next yr. In only over a yr, the summit can be held 4 times.
As well as, the US, the EU, the UK, and others signed a separate AI treaty earlier this month. The High-Level Meeting on the Responsible Military Use of Artificial Intelligence (REAIM) was also held in Korea.
