Receive clear and useful feedback. Ditch generic questions. Greater than 60 example questions so that you can use.
Asking for feedback may be difficult, and even intimidating. There are such a lot of aspects that might influence the way you ask for feedback: company culture, personal fears, an uninvolved manager, past feedback being useless, etc…
While these may be true, they shouldn’t deter you from asking feedback. As a one that leads teams, I even have to offer tons of feedback, each frequently but in addition in every performance review. In a previous post, I describe how I provide feedback using the SBIN framework. I would like to lean on this framework to also give you a set of template/guidance questions which is able to show you how to goal your feedback, and in return, get a better quality response.
PS 1: Whilst the title of the blog post is targeting individual contributors, Data Science managers may find the content priceless to pass on to their teams.
PS 2: The inspiration for this post got here from working along with Stefano Franco. Very thoughtful team lead in helping others through developing standard team tooling.
