LG Electronics (CEO Joo-wan Cho) announced on the eleventh that it held the ‘LG Software Developer Conference 2024’ at LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul, to advertise technical exchange and communication amongst software developers.
This event was hosted by the ‘LG SW Council’ with LG affiliates participating and was held for 2 days from the ninth. This yr, with the theme of ‘Creating the Future Together’, technology presentations were made in eight fields: ▲AI, big data ▲mobility, automobiles ▲platform, architecture ▲cloud ▲emerging tech ▲SW technology, development culture ▲SW security ▲SW management.
About 2,500 software researchers from LG affiliates including LG Electronics, in addition to developers from global big tech corporations comparable to Microsoft, IBM, Qualcomm, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Palantir, gathered in a single place to share technology and development know-how.
Particularly, software development executives from LG Electronics, LG Energy Solution, LG Uplus, and LG CNS gave relay keynote speeches introducing AI application cases in various business areas.
Amongst them, LG Electronics CTO Division Artificial Intelligence Research Lab Managing Director Kim Jae-cheol drew attention in his keynote speech by introducing the ‘LG Electronics Vision AI Universal Model (Vision Foundation Model)’ that LG Electronics is developing. Unlike previous cases where vision AI technologies required for every product were developed, this model alone will be used for recognition technologies comparable to object recognition and classification, human posture recognition, and 3D distance measurement, so it has high versatility.
He explained that it’ll be applied to business areas comparable to home, mobility, and industrial to extend the efficiency of product development and shorten the event period. It also covered technologies comparable to learn how to utilize machine learning technology for developing AI solutions for automobiles, the present status of webOS on-device AI technology and future development directions through combination with generative AI, AI design for robots and the longer term direction of LG robots, and platform engineering for LG ThinQ Cloud.
Meanwhile, the LG Software Developer Conference has been held as a part of the ‘LG SPARK’ cultural and revolutionary arts festival held at LG Science Park for a few month since last yr.
