Elon Musk, the CEO of social media X (Twitter), is causing controversy by sharing a deepfake video related to the election, violating the foundations of the social media company.

The Latest York Times reported on the twenty seventh (local time) that Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared a deepfake video imitating Vice President Kamala Harris’ voice on X.

The unique video was released by Vice President Harris’s campaign for the campaign and was titled “We Select Freedom.”

However the video shared by Musk contained an intentionally doctored narration by Vice President Harris, who said that President Biden was senile and that she was only hired for diversity reasons because she is a girl and an individual of color, and that she knows nothing about running a rustic.

It was also edited to remove images of former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, who appeared in the unique, and add a picture of President Biden.

In response, Harris’s campaign said, “We consider the American people want the true freedom, opportunity, and security that Vice President Harris is offering,” and “They don’t want the fake videos and fabricated lies of Elon Musk and Donald Trump.”

YouTuber Mr. Reagan (@MrReaganUSA), who first posted the deepfake video, revealed that “this video is a parody video.” Nevertheless, CEO Musk didn’t reveal this fact, and only said, “Amazing” with a laughing emoticon.

Since then, the post has been viewed a whopping 123 million times.

This can be considered to be against the policies of X, which Musk himself owns.

X specifically prohibits users from “sharing synthetic, manipulated, or otherwise misleading content that would deceive, confuse, or harm people.” Earlier this yr, X, together with 19 other tech firms, agreed to mark and notify viewers when it detects AI and deepfake videos that would deceive voters within the 2024 presidential election.

That is why some are evaluating that CEO Musk has undermined his own legitimacy by posting a fake video. Experts emphasized the triangular nature of this incident, as Musk, with 191 million followers, is essentially the most influential person on the platform and is arguably essentially the most influential person on all social media.

At the identical time, concerns are growing in regards to the spread of deepfake content.
