100 Silicon Valley Investors Endorse Harris… “US Tech Sector Shows Divide”

Following Elon Musk and Andreessen Horowitz’s support for former President Donald Trump, greater than 100 Silicon Valley investors have joined forces to support Vice President Kamala Harris, showing signs of division within the U.S. tech industry ahead of the presidential election.

CNBC reported on the thirty first that greater than 100 enterprise capitalists have announced their intention to support Vice President Harris, who’s stepping up her campaign to run against Trump within the November presidential election.

In accordance with the group, called ‘VCs for Kamala’, it’s comprised of Silicon Valley investors and entrepreneurs. Representative figures include Vinod Khosla of Khosla Ventures, Reid Hoffman, founding father of LinkedIn and director of Microsoft (MS), and Mark Cuban, a shareholder of the American football team Dallas Mavericks.

“We spend our days finding, investing in, and supporting entrepreneurs who’re constructing the longer term,” they said. “We stand for a pro-business, pro-American dream, pro-entrepreneurship, pro-technology progress. We also consider in democracy because the backbone of our nation. We consider that strong, trustworthy institutions are a trademark, not a bug, and that our industry and each other industry would collapse without them.”

Those that attended the Harris support gathering were those that had been at odds with the Trump-supporting, open-source camp. Khosla and Hoffman are also well-known advocates of OpenAI.

Hoffman, a longtime Democratic supporter, shared a link to the Harris pledge on Twitter. “Proud to sign the #vcsforkamala pledge. It’s an investment in our democratic future,” he wrote.

CNBC commented, “The VCs on Harris’s list highlight the deepening political divide in Silicon Valley and the broader tech industry.”
