A British parliamentary candidate has made an incident where he clarified that he is just not a man-made intelligence (AI). It is because suspicions have arisen that his profile picture looks like an AI-generated image, and he was unable to maneuver as a result of a serious illness during his election campaign.
The Guardian reported on the ninth (local time) that Mark Matlock, a candidate for the British Reform Party, revealed that he was an actual person after suspicions were raised about X (Twitter) being an AI.
In accordance with this, on the eighth, a tweet appeared on X saying that candidate Matlock’s photo seemed to be generated by AI and asked if there was any evidence that he was human.

Within the published photos, the candidate is alleged to have unrealistically smooth skin and green-like hair.
In truth, within the British general election held on the 4th, an AI candidate ran for office. An executive of an AI company ran for office using an AI persona and lost.
Also, the party that candidate Mattlock belongs to didn’t release any photos or biographies of some candidates. They explained that they were all real people, but in addition admitted that they were ‘paper candidates’ who ran for office without campaigning to extend the party’s voter turnout.
Matlock also claimed that he was human, saying, “I had pneumonia three days before Election Day, and I could not even stand on election night.”
He also said that he removed the background and altered the colour of the tie while releasing the unique photo.
There have been many predictions that AI shall be utilized in elections, but this can be a first for the concept that the candidates themselves are AI.
Especially in cases like this one where excessive Photoshop work is finished to look younger or where there aren’t any official activities, it is anticipated that such criticism will proceed to surface.
Meanwhile, in 2022, a Danish political party was launched with an AI chatbot as its representative. The party was formed by artists and engineers, and the chatbot didn’t take part in the election on the time.
