The three questions I asked myself that helped me pick my profession path

As you gain experience and progress through your profession in data science, sooner or later you would possibly start hearing or asking yourself this query:

Do you wish to move into management?

My boss asked me this query two years ago. On the time I used to be a senior data scientist. I used to be successfully leading projects and mentoring junior team members on top of other duties. Since I used to be already doing quite a lot of the work of a manager (or so I believed), I didn’t think moving to a management position can be an enormous change. Plus, I believed a “fancier” title and a pay bump for (mostly) the identical work seemed like deal, so, although I never planned on attempting to turn out to be a manager, I ultimately agreed to maneuver from a person contributor (senior data scientist) to a people leader role (manager data science).

Now, after nearly two years in management, I made a decision to maneuver back to a person contributor role. I’ll share what motivated me to do that in a while on this post, but briefly, I discovered that a person contributor role aligns with my interests…
