The Korea Photovoltaic Industry Association announced on the fifth that Jong-Hwan Park, CEO of HD Hyundai Energy Solutions, was elected because the association president at the overall meeting held on June twenty fifth.
As the federal government takes the lead in expanding the solar energy market to attain carbon neutrality and energy security, the association has also begun a full-scale reorganization. Chairman Park Jong-hwan will lead the association for the following three years.
The plan is to match the policy of expanding renewable energy, including solar energy, with subsidies.
On May 16, the federal government held a policy meeting with major renewable energy generation and manufacturing firms, chaired by Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Deok-geun, and announced the ‘Technique to Expand Renewable Energy Supply and Strengthen the Supply Chain.’
He explained that together with the shift in renewable energy policy, the solar energy industry, which is at the middle of renewable energy, might be led by Park Jong-hwan, CEO of HD Hyundai Energy Solutions, a domestic solar cell and module manufacturer, who will lead the association as the brand new center.
Newly appointed Chairman Park Jong-hwan said, “As we face the climate crisis and energy upheaval, the solar energy industry, which is at the middle of green energy, has also reached a turning point,” and added, “Because the renewable energy market ecosystem is restored attributable to changes in government policy, we are going to do our greatest to make sure that the solar energy industry can lead it.”
As well as, the association appointed Lee Sang-gon, a public relations expert from the Blue House, as executive vice chairman. Vp Lee Sang-gon will direct the association office and support the association president and member firms.
As the primary event under the brand new chairmanship of Park Jong-hwan, the association held an ‘Industry Roundtable on Current Issues in Solar Energy Industry Policy’ along with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 4th.
The meeting held on the Sejong Government Complex was attended by association officials, Korea Energy Agency, and key figures from domestic solar cell and module manufacturing firms. They shared the present state of the industry and difficulties attributable to the federal government policy change and sought ways to revive the manufacturing industry and strengthen export competitiveness through the establishment of solar energy industry policies.
