The Korea Aerospace Research Institute has began engine performance verification tests for the fourth launch of Nuri, scheduled for the second half of 2025. On the 4th, the Korea Aerospace Administration and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute announced that the primary acceptance combustion test was accomplished on the Naro Space Center in Goheung, Jeollanam-do.
The acceptance combustion test is the ultimate engine performance verification procedure and is performed before installation on the launch vehicle. The engines for this combustion test consist of the next: Stage 1: 4 75-ton engines (total thrust of 300 tons), Stage 2: one 75-ton engine, and Stage 3: one 7-ton engine.
The Korea Aerospace Research Institute explained that it is going to conduct combustion tests at intervals of 1-2 months until February next yr, and plans to launch the fourth time within the second half of next yr, the fifth time in 2026, and the sixth time in 2027.
Starting with the fourth launch, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and Hanwha Aerospace will jointly host the test, and the goal of this test is to enhance the reliability and performance of the Nuri launch vehicle.
