Tesla announced that it has deployed two humanoid robots at its factory. That is an earlier schedule than the originally scheduled end of this 12 months.
Business Insider reported on the twelfth (local time) that Tesla announced through X (Twitter) that it had “deployed two Optimus robots that perform tasks autonomously within the factory.”
The announcement was included in a post promoting the corporate’s performance since 2018 ahead of a shareholder vote on CEO Elon Musk’s multibillion-dollar pay package.
Nonetheless, it’s unclear where and when the robots were deployed within the factory and what tasks they’re performing. Tesla didn’t reply to this.
CEO Musk announced in an earnings report last April that Optimus could function as a factory by the top of the 12 months and be sold by the top of 2025. He also emphasized to shareholders that “once sentient humanoid robots develop into a reality, there can be no meaningful limits to the dimensions of the economy.”
In relation to this, Tesla most recently released a video of Optimus organizing parts on the factory through X last month. It is claimed that this provides a glimpse into the work that Optimus is doing.
Meanwhile, Tesla’s rival BMW signed a contract with Figure AI in January and plans to deploy robots at its South Carolina factory.
Moreover, Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, which CEO Musk cited as Tesla’s biggest threat, are also testing robot deployment.
