Suncheon conducts AI literacy improvement training for underprivileged children

Suncheon City (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the fifteenth that it’s going to provide basic digital learning and coding education to enhance AI literacy for kids from vulnerable classes.

This training is designed to assist children easily adapt to the digital environment in preparation for the introduction of digital textbooks in 2025, and is scheduled to run for five months until August.

The academic program consists of assorted contents similar to signing up for an entry program, understanding AI, creating AI games, video detection technology, special coding, image classification, and VR experience, and is operated as a customized program to stimulate kid’s interest.

After completing AI basic education, Suncheon plans to supply additional in-depth education to children who’re talented or willing to proceed learning, helping them grow into future talents.

A city official said, “AI education is crucial for kids amid changes within the digital environment, and that is the primary time that the town has promoted this education. We are going to strive to be sure that all children have equal educational opportunities.”

The Dream Start project is a project that gives a wide range of customized integrated services to assist children under the age of 12 grow into healthy members of society, and Suncheon currently provides 37 programs in 4 fields to 270 children.
