A report has emerged that Samsung Electronics is significantly increasing the dimensions of its internal XR (mixed reality) headset development team following the launch of Apple's 'Vision Pro'.

Technology specialist Patternly Apple reported on the seventeenth (local time) that Samsung Electronics is expanding the dimensions of its XR headset 'Secret Organization' that can compete with the Vision Pro this fall.

In keeping with this, Samsung Electronics' DX (Device Experience) division internally created a company referred to as the 'immersive team' last summer. It began with a small number of individuals, but is now known to have grown to greater than 100 people.

This follows Samsung Electronics' announcement in February last 12 months that it might launch the XR headset in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm. Some predicted that the product could be released in early 2024, but it surely was reported that the corporate modified direction to reply after watching the launch of Apple Vision Pro. Evaluation suggests that Samsung Electronics' latest headset will probably be released this fall.

Apple's Vision Pro is understood to have sold greater than 200,000 units since its launch on the 2nd. After all, as a consequence of the high price of over $3,500, current demand is especially from related industries, developers, and early adopters.

It’s evaluated that it focuses on 'spatial computing' fairly than specializing in avatars or games like existing Meta headsets. User experience centered on ease of use and multitasking is vital.

I’m considering what effect this feature could have on Samsung Electronics headsets. “Samsung Electronics is understood to concentrate on the technology and completeness of its products, and with the discharge of Vision Pro, their team now knows what they’re competing against,” said Patternly Apple. “Samsung’s secret team has developed key features of Vision Pro.” “Only time will tell whether we’ll ‘copy’ it,” he identified.

Apple is understood to have applied for greater than 5,000 patents related to Vision Pro.

Meanwhile, last week, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg put Vision Pro in check by personally wearing it and comparing it to his own products, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman left a comment saying, “It’s the second most impressive technology because the introduction of the iPhone.”

As such, fierce competition is happening amongst global corporations within the XR headset market. Market research firm IDC predicted that global XR headset shipments this 12 months would reach 11 million units, a 47% increase from the previous 12 months.
