The family of ‘F1 legend’ Michael Schumacher has announced that they are going to take legal motion against a German magazine that created fake interviews with generative artificial intelligence (AI).
Reuters and other media outlets reported on the twentieth that the German weekly magazine The Actuele published an article titled ‘Michael Schumacher’s First Interview’ with a photograph of Schumacher on the fifteenth (local time).
Based on this, the interview includes remarks by Schumacher, comparable to “I can stand with support and take just a few steps slowly” and “I could not have survived without my wife and child.”
Nonetheless, the Schumacher family denied the interview and mentioned legal motion. It is thought that the interview content was written using a generative AI chatbot.
Considered the best racer ever, Schumacher hit his head on a rock at a ski resort in France in December 2013, and underwent two surgeries but never regained consciousness. He has not made a public appearance since being moved into the home in September 2014.
Nonetheless, as his wife said in a 2021 Netflix documentary, “We do the whole lot to assist him feel comfortable and to make him feel a way of family bonding.”
